We have many words for the life force that breathes through all of us, connecting us to one another and to all living things. We honor this life force in front of alters and in churches, in mosques and at waterfronts, as we birth our babies and write our poems. We experience this through song, the written word, the stage. We conceive our future generations and become pregnant with ideas. We create life. Birth is a sacred act.
